abstract = {Dear Readers,we have issued the next, 11th (2017) volume of Annales Societatis Mathematicae Polonae Series VI - "Antiquitates Mathematicae", a journal devoted to a history of mathematics, in which we offer 9 research articles, 1 report, and 1 essay. In the section of European mathematics, R. Duda makes a comparison of history, origins and development of mathematics in the new universities in Poznań, Vilnius, and Kaunas in the interwar period. In the Biographical section, L. Maligranda i W. Piotrowski present a profile of Franciszek Włodarski (1889-1944), universally educated in Fribourg and Göttingen, later a high-school teacher, a lecturer in the Free Polish University and a professor in Poznań University. Within the series "Profiles of honorary members of PTM" W. Piotrowski presents the profile of Lvov-born Franciszek Otto (1904-2000). In the section of History of mathematics in Poland two articles concern S. Kempisty (1892-1940). I. Jóźwik, L. Maligranda & M. Terepeta make a detailed presentation of his life and scholarly achievements, while R. Duda explains the circumstances of Kempisty's death in the context of the occupation of Vilnius. W. Wilczyński discusses some constructions due to Polish mathematicians. Egor M. Bogatov from Russia presents key moments of interactions between Polish and Soviet mathematicians in the field of nonlinear functional analysis from the 1920s to the late 1950s. In the section of History and Philosophy of Mathematics S. Domoradzki and K. Karpińska discuss the evolution of Matura exams in mathematics in the Prussian Partition and in the first years of independence of Poland in the regions of Pomerania and Great Poland. D. Ciesielska and Z. Pogoda present a report on the activities of the seminar in the history of mathematics at the Jagiellonian University in the years 2010-2017. In the section of History of applied mathematics A. Antkowiak, M. Kaczmarz and K. Szajowski discuss the contribution of Polish mathematicians to the analysis of the functioning of systems of transportation of the output in Polish open-cast mines of lignite in the second half of the 20th century. At the end of the issue there is a short essay by Adam J. Ginensky about his professor A. Zygmund. Dr. Danuta Ciesielska resigned from the editorial team. We thank her for her work and wish further successes. Our journal has appeared since 2007; since 2014 it is also available in an electronic form on the journal portal of the Polish Mathematical Society (PTM) ((http://wydawnictwa.ptm.org.pl/index.php/antiquitates-mathematicae/index). Following the evaluation in 2015, the journal was placed on the B list of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. For 2016 our Index Copernicus Value was ICV 2016 = 76.21.Wishing you pleasant reading and inviting you to publish in "Antiquitates Mathematicae", Stanisław Domoradzki, Editor-in-Chief},
