In this paper we give the classification of finite simple groups in which any two subgroups of the same order are conjugate. If G is such a group, one of the following three statements must hold: 1) G is isomorphic to P ⁢ S ⁢ L ⁢ ( 2 , 4 ) ≅ P ⁢ S ⁢ L ⁢ ( 2 , 5 ) ≅ A 5 ; 2) G is isomorphic to P ⁢ S ⁢ L ⁢ ( 2 , 8 ) ; 3) G is isomorphic to P ⁢ S ⁢ L ⁢ ( 2 , p ) , p a prime, p > 5 , p ≡ 3 , 5 ( mod 8 ) , p 2 - 1 ≢ 0 ( mod 5 ) .
