Sucker induction in Xenopus: Xenopus laevis embryos, at late blastula stage, were cut in order to separate the blastocelic roof from the other parts of the embryo (Fig. 1). The influence of LiCl and NaSCN on RNA and protein syntheses in chick embryos has been studied. Chick embryos at various early stages were in vitro-explanted according to New, treated with 0.01 M LiCl or 0.006M NaSCN, and put in culture in the presence of tritiated uridine or leucine. The incorporation in treated embryos and in controls has been studied with an autoradiographic method.
