On Auslander-Reiten translates in functorially finite subcategories and applications

K. ErdmannD. MadsenV. Miemietz — 2010

Colloquium Mathematicae

We consider functorially finite subcategories in module categories over Artin algebras. One main result provides a method, in the setup of bounded derived categories, to compute approximations and the end terms of relative Auslander-Reiten sequences. We also prove an Auslander-Reiten formula for the setting of functorially finite subcategories. Furthermore, we study the category of modules filtered by standard modules for certain quasi-hereditary algebras and we classify precisely when this category...

Hypercyclic and chaotic weighted shifts

K.-G. Grosse-Erdmann — 2000

Studia Mathematica

Extending previous results of H. Salas we obtain a characterisation of hypercyclic weighted shifts on an arbitrary F-sequence space in which the canonical unit vectors ( e n ) form a Schauder basis. If the basis is unconditional we give a characterisation of those hypercyclic weighted shifts that are even chaotic.

The Hypercyclicity Criterion for sequences of operators

L. Bernal-GonzálezK.-G. Grosse-Erdmann — 2003

Studia Mathematica

We show that under no hypotheses on the density of the ranges of the mappings involved, an almost-commuting sequence (Tₙ) of operators on an F-space X satisfies the Hypercyclicity Criterion if and only if it has a hereditarily hypercyclic subsequence ( T n k ) , and if and only if the sequence (Tₙ ⊕ Tₙ) is hypercyclic on X × X. This strengthens and extends a recent result due to Bès and Peris. We also find a new characterization of the Hypercyclicity Criterion in terms of a condition introduced by Godefroy...
