We consider a functional equation of the form

in the unknown function phi.
We present a method to construct the general solution of this equation under suitable hypotheses on the functions Inf i fi and Supi fi.
In this paper some conditions are given for the solution of uniqueness problem for the functional equation when belong to a metric space . If and are identical on some -neighbourhood of a point , they are shown to be identical on the entire domain . Further conditions are given for the solution of the uniqueness problem.
