Least square method for solving contact problems with friction obeying the Coulomb law

Jaroslav Haslinger (1984)

Aplikace matematiky

Similarity:

The paper deals with numerical realization of contact problems with friction obeying the Coulomb law. The original problem is formulated as the fixed-point problem for a certain operator generated by the variational inequality. This inequality is transformed to a system of variational nonlinear equations generating other operators, in a sense "close" to the above one. The fixed-point problem of these operators is solved by the least-square method in which equations and the corresponding...

Contact between elastic bodies. II. Finite element analysis

Jaroslav Haslinger, Ivan Hlaváček (1981)

Aplikace matematiky

Similarity:

The paper deals with the approximation of contact problems of two elastic bodies by finite element method. Using piecewise linear finite elements, some error estimates are derived, assuming that the exact solution is sufficiently smooth. If the solution is not regular, the convergence itself is proven. This analysis is given for two types of contact problems: with a bounded contact zone and with enlarging contact zone.

Finite element solution of flows through cascades of profiles in a layer of variable thickness

Aplikace matematiky

The paper is devoted to the numerical modelling of a subsonic irrotational nonviscous flow past a cascade of profiles in a variable thickness fluid layer. It leads to a nonlinear two-dimensional elliptic problem with nonstandard nonhomogeneous boundary conditions. The problem is discretized by the finite element method. Both theoretical and practical questions of the finite element implementation are studied; convergence of the method, numerical integration, iterative methods for the...
