Scattering problems in a domain with small holes.

In this paper, we consider a family of scattering problems in perforated unbounded domains Ω. We assume that the perforation is contained in a bounded region and that the holes have a ?critical? size. We study the asymptotic behaviour of the outgoing solutions of the steady-state scattering problem and we prove that an extra term appears in the limit equation. Finally, we obtain convergence results for scattering frequencies and solutions.

A general perturbation formula for electromagnetic fields in presence of low volume scatterers

Roland Griesmaier (2011)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis

Similarity:

In several practically interesting applications of electromagnetic scattering theory like, , scattering from small point-like objects such as buried artifacts or small inclusions in non-destructive testing, scattering from thin curve-like objects such as wires or tubes, or scattering from thin sheet-like objects such as cracks, the volume of the scatterers is small relative to the volume of the surrounding medium and with respect to the wave length of the applied electromagnetic fields. This...

Mathematical modeling of time-harmonic aeroacoustics with a generalized impedance boundary condition

Eric Luneville, Jean-Francois Mercier (2014)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis - Modélisation Mathématique et Analyse Numérique

Similarity:

We study the time-harmonic acoustic scattering in a duct in presence of a flow and of a discontinuous impedance boundary condition. Unlike a continuous impedance, a discontinuous one leads to still open modeling questions, as in particular the singularity of the solution at the abrupt transition and the choice of the right unknown to formulate the scattering problem. To address these questions we propose a mathematical approach based on variational formulations set in weighted Sobolev...
