Computing minimum norm solution of a specific constrained convex nonlinear problem

Similarity:

The characterization of the solution set of a convex constrained problem is a well-known attempt. In this paper, we focus on the minimum norm solution of a specific constrained convex nonlinear problem and reformulate this problem as an unconstrained minimization problem by using the alternative theorem. The objective function of this problem is piecewise quadratic, convex, and once differentiable. To minimize this function, we will provide a new Newton-type method with global convergence...

On tropical Kleene star matrices and alcoved polytopes

Similarity:

In this paper we give a short, elementary proof of a known result in tropical mathematics, by which the convexity of the column span of a zero-diagonal real matrix A is characterized by A being a Kleene star. We give applications to alcoved polytopes, using normal idempotent matrices (which form a subclass of Kleene stars). For a normal matrix we define a norm and show that this is the radius of a hyperplane section of its tropical span.

Tilt stability in nonlinear programming under Mangasarian-Fromovitz constraint qualification

Kybernetika

Similarity:

The paper concerns the study of tilt stability of local minimizers in standard problems of nonlinear programming. This notion plays an important role in both theoretical and numerical aspects of optimization and has drawn a lot of attention in optimization theory and its applications, especially in recent years. Under the classical Mangasarian-Fromovitz Constraint Qualification, we establish relationships between tilt stability and some other stability notions in constrained optimization....

Observer design for a class of nonlinear discrete-time systems with time-delay

Kybernetika

Similarity:

The problem of observer design for a class of nonlinear discrete-time systems with time-delay is considered. A new approach of nonlinear observer design is proposed for the class of systems. Based on differential mean value theory, the error dynamic is transformed into linear parameter variable system. By using Lyapunov stability theory and Schur complement lemma, the sufficient conditions expressed in terms of matrix inequalities are obtained to guarantee the observer error converges...
