Banach spaces in which all multilinear forms are weakly sequentially continuous

Similarity:

We solve several problems in the theory of polynomials in Banach spaces. (i) There exist Banach spaces without the Dunford-Pettis property and without upper p-estimates in which all multilinear forms are weakly sequentially continuous: some Lorentz sequence spaces, their natural preduals and, most notably, the dual of Schreier's space. (ii) There exist Banach spaces X without the Dunford-Pettis property such that all multilinear forms on X and X* are weakly sequentially continuous; this...

On multilinear mappings attaining their norms.

Maria Acosta (1998)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We show, for any Banach spaces X and Y, the denseness of the set of bilinear forms on X × Y whose third Arens transpose attains its norm. We also prove the denseness of the set of norm attaining multilinear mappings in the class of multilinear mappings which are weakly continuous on bounded sets, under some additional assumptions on the Banach spaces, and give several examples of classical spaces satisfying these hypotheses.

Polynomials and geometry of Banach spaces.

Similarity:

In this paper we survey a large part of the results on polynomials on Banach spaces that have been obtained in recent years. We mainly look at how the polynomials behave in connection with certain geometric properties of the spaces.

Unconditionally convergent polynomials in Banach spaces and related properties.

M.ª Teresa Fernández Unzueta (1997)

Similarity:

Our aim is to introduce a new notion of unconditionallity, in the context of polynomials in Banach spaces, that looks directly to the polynomial topology defined on the involved spaces. This notion allows us to generalize some well-known relations of duality that appear in the linear context.

Some results on norm attaining bilinear forms on L1[0,1].

Similarity:

We characterize the norm attaining bilinear forms on L1[0,1], and show that the set of norm attaining ones is not dense in the space of continuous bilinear forms on L1[0,1].

On spreading c 0 -sequences in Banach spaces

Vassiliki Farmaki (1999)

Similarity:

We introduce and study the spreading-(s) and the spreading-(u) property of a Banach space and their relations. A space has the spreading-(s) property if every normalized weakly null sequence has a subsequence with a spreading model equivalent to the usual basis of c 0 ; while it has the spreading-(u) property if every weak Cauchy and non-weakly convergent sequence has a convex block subsequence with a spreading model equivalent to the summing basis of c 0 . The main results proved are the...

Algebras of real analytic functions: Homomorphisms and bounding sets

This article deals with bounding sets in real Banach spaces E with respect to the functions in A(E), the algebra of real analytic functions on E, as well as to various subalgebras of A(E). These bounding sets are shown to be relatively weakly compact and the question whether they are always relatively compact in the norm topology is reduced to the study of the action on the set of unit vectors in l of the corresponding functions in A ( l ) . These results are achieved by studying the homomorphisms...
