On the central limit theorem for some birth and death processes

Tymoteusz Chojecki (2011)

Annales UMCS, Mathematica

Similarity:

Suppose that {Xn, n ≥ 0} is a stationary Markov chain and V is a certain function on a phase space of the chain, called an observable. We say that the observable satisfies the central limit theorem (CLT) if [...] [...] converge in law to a normal random variable, as N → +∞. For a stationary Markov chain with the L2 spectral gap the theorem holds for all V such that V (X0) is centered and square integrable, see Gordin [7]. The purpose of this article is to characterize a family of observables...

On the rate of convergence in the weak invariance principle for dependent random variables with applications to Markov chains

Ion Grama, Émile Le Page, Marc Peigné (2014)

Colloquium Mathematicae

Similarity:

We prove an invariance principle for non-stationary random processes and establish a rate of convergence under a new type of mixing condition. The dependence is exponentially decaying in the gap between the past and the future and is controlled by an assumption on the characteristic function of the finite-dimensional increments of the process. The distinctive feature of the new mixing condition is that the dependence increases exponentially in the dimension of the increments. The proposed...

Loop-free Markov chains as determinantal point processes

Alexei Borodin (2008)

Annales de l'I.H.P. Probabilités et statistiques

Similarity:

We show that any loop-free Markov chain on a discrete space can be viewed as a determinantal point process. As an application, we prove central limit theorems for the number of particles in a window for renewal processes and Markov renewal processes with Bernoulli noise.

On the spectral analysis of second-order Markov chains

Persi Diaconis, Laurent Miclo (2013)

Annales de la faculté des sciences de Toulouse Mathématiques

Similarity:

Second order Markov chains which are trajectorially reversible are considered. Contrary to the reversibility notion for usual Markov chains, no symmetry property can be deduced for the corresponding transition operators. Nevertheless and even if they are not diagonalizable in general, we study some features of their spectral decompositions and in particular the behavior of the spectral gap under appropriate perturbations is investigated. Our quantitative and qualitative results confirm...

The Minimum Spectral Radius of Signless Laplacian of Graphs with a Given Clique Number

Li Su, Hong-Hai Li, Jing Zhang (2014)

Discussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory

Similarity:

In this paper we observe that the minimal signless Laplacian spectral radius is obtained uniquely at the kite graph PKn−ω,ω among all connected graphs with n vertices and clique number ω. In addition, we show that the spectral radius μ of PKm,ω (m ≥ 1) satisfies [...] More precisely, for m > 1, μ satisfies the equation [...] where [...] and [...] . At last the spectral radius μ(PK∞,ω) of the infinite graph PK∞,ω is also discussed.

On spectral bandwidth of a stationary random process

Vladimír Klega (1983)

Aplikace matematiky

Similarity:

The irregularity coefficient is one of the numerical characteristics of the spectral bandwith of a stationary random process. Its basic properties are investigated and the application to the dichotomic classification of a process into narrow-band and wide-band ones is given. Further, its behaviour is analyzed for sufficiently wide classes of stationary processes whose spectral densities frequently appear both in theory and applications.
