Similarity transformation of matrices to one common canonical form and its applications to 2D linear systems

Tadeusz Kaczorek (2010)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

The notion of a common canonical form for a sequence of square matrices is introduced. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a similarity transformation reducing the sequence of matrices to the common canonical form are established. It is shown that (i) using a suitable state vector linear transformation it is possible to decompose a linear 2D system into two linear 2D subsystems such that the dynamics of the second subsystem are independent of those of the first one,...

Positive 2D discrete-time linear Lyapunov systems

Przemysław Przyborowski, Tadeusz Kaczorek (2009)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

Two models of positive 2D discrete-time linear Lyapunov systems are introduced. For both the models necessary and sufficient conditions for positivity, asymptotic stability, reachability and observability are established. The discussion is illustrated with numerical examples.

Controllability in the max-algebra

Similarity:

We are interested here in the reachability and controllability problems for DEDS in the max-algebra. Contrary to the situation in linear systems theory, where controllability (resp observability) refers to a (linear) subspace, these properties are essentially discrete in the max -linear dynamic system. We show that these problems, which consist in solving a max -linear equation lead to an eigenvector problem in the min -algebra. More precisely, we show that, given a max -linear system, then, for...

On the compatibility of classical multiplier estimates with variable reduction techniques when there are nonlinear inequality constraints.

Similarity:

The minimization of a nonlinear function subject to linear and nonlinear equality constraints and simple bounds can be performed through minimizing a partial augmented Lagrangian function subject only to linear constraints and simple bounds by variable reduction techniques. The first-order procedure for estimating the multiplier of the nonlinear equality constraints through the Kuhn-Tucker conditions is analyzed and compared to that of Hestenes-Powell. There is a method which identifies...

Elimination of finite eigenvalues of the 2D Roesser model by state feedbacks

Tadeusz Kaczorek (2001)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

A new problem of decreasing the degree of the closed-loop characteristic polynomial of the 2D Roesser model by a suitable choice of state feedbacks is formulated. Sufficient conditions are established under which it is possible to choose state feedbacks such that the non-zero closed-loop characteristic polynomial has degree zero. A procedure for computation of the feedback gain matrices is presented and illustrated by a numerical example.
