On localization in holomorphic equivariant cohomology

Ugo Bruzzo, Vladimir Rubtsov (2012)

We study a holomorphic equivariant cohomology built out of the Atiyah algebroid of an equivariant holomorphic vector bundle and prove a related localization formula. This encompasses various residue formulas in complex geometry, in particular we shall show that it contains as special cases Carrell-Liebermann’s and Feng-Ma’s residue formulas, and Baum-Bott’s formula for the zeroes of a meromorphic vector field.

The incidence class and the hierarchy of orbits

R. Rimányi defined the incidence class of two singularities η and ζ as [η]|ζ, the restriction of the Thom polynomial of η to ζ. He conjectured that (under mild conditions) [η]|ζ ≠ 0 ⇔ ζ ⊂ η ¯ . Generalizing this notion we define the incidence class of two orbits η and ζ of a representation. We give a sufficient condition (positivity) for ζ to have the property that [η]|ζ ≠ 0 ⇔ ζ ⊂ η ¯ for any other orbit η. We show that for many interesting cases, e.g. the quiver representations of Dynkin...

We explain the philosophy behind the computations in [BDP] and place them in a wider conceptual setting. We also outline, for toric varieties, the resulting equivalent approach to some key results in that theory.
