On stationary kinetic systems of Boltzmann type and their fluid limits

Leif Arkeryd (2004)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

The first part reviews some recent ideas and L¹-existence results for non-linear stationary equations of Boltzmann type in a bounded domain in ℝⁿ and far from global Maxwellian equilibrium. That is an area not covered by the DiPerna and P. L. Lions methods for the time-dependent Boltzmann equation from the late 1980-ies. The final part discusses the more classical perturbative case close to global equilibrium and corresponding small mean free path limits of fully non-linear stationary...

Stationary reflection in extender models

Ernest Schimmerling (2005)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

Working in L[E], we examine which large cardinal properties of κ imply that all stationary subsets of cof(<κ) ∩ κ⁺ reflect.

Stationary solutions of aerotaxis equations

Piotr Knosalla, Tadeusz Nadzieja (2015)

Applicationes Mathematicae

Similarity:

We study the existence and uniqueness of the steady state in a model describing the evolution of density of bacteria and oxygen dissolved in water filling a capillary. The steady state is a stationary solution of a nonlinear and nonlocal problem which depends on the energy function and contains two parameters: the total mass of the colony of bacteria and the concentration (or flux) of oxygen at the end of the capillary. The existence and uniqueness of solutions depend on relations between...

Linear transformations of locally stationary processes

Jiří Michálek (1989)

Aplikace matematiky

Similarity:

The paper deals with linear transformations of harmonizable locally stationary random processes. Necessary and sufficient conditions under which a linear transformation defines again a locally stationary process are given.

Some Generalization of Nearaffine Planes

Jan Jakóbowski (2005)

Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Mathematics

Similarity:

There are three kinds of Benz planes: Möbius planes, Laguerre planes and Minkowski planes. A Minkowski plane satisfying an additional axiom is connected with some other structure called a nearaffine plane. We construct an analogous structure for a Laguerre plane. Moreover, our description is common for both cases.
