Pullback incremental attraction

Peter E. Kloeden, Thomas Lorenz (2014)

Nonautonomous Dynamical Systems

Similarity:

A pullback incremental attraction, a nonautonomous version of incremental stability, is introduced for nonautonomous systems that may have unbounded limiting solutions. Its characterisation by a Lyapunov function is indicated.

Which Bernoulli measures are good measures?

Ethan Akin, Randall Dougherty, R. Daniel Mauldin, Andrew Yingst (2008)

Colloquium Mathematicae

Similarity:

For measures on a Cantor space, the demand that the measure be "good" is a useful homogeneity condition. We examine the question of when a Bernoulli measure on the sequence space for an alphabet of size n is good. Complete answers are given for the n = 2 cases and the rational cases. Partial results are obtained for the general cases.

Physical measures for infinite-modal maps

Vítor Araújo, Maria José Pacifico (2009)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

We analyze certain parametrized families of one-dimensional maps with infinitely many critical points from the measure-theoretical point of view. We prove that such families have absolutely continuous invariant probability measures for a positive Lebesgue measure subset of parameters. Moreover, we show that both the density of such a measure and its entropy vary continuously with the parameter. In addition, we obtain exponential rate of mixing for these measures and also show that they...

Randomly connected dynamical systems - asymptotic stability

Katarzyna Horbacz (1998)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

Similarity:

We give sufficient conditions for asymptotic stability of a Markov operator governing the evolution of measures due to the action of randomly chosen dynamical systems. We show that the existence of an invariant measure for the transition operator implies the existence of an invariant measure for the semigroup generated by the system.

Relatively independent joinings and subsystems of W*-dynamical systems

Rocco Duvenhage (2012)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

Relatively independent joinings of W*-dynamical systems are constructed. This is intimately related to subsystems of W*-dynamical systems, and therefore we also study general properties of subsystems, in particular fixed point subsystems and compact subsystems. This allows us to obtain characterizations of weak mixing and relative ergodicity, as well as of certain compact subsystems, in terms of joinings.

On invariant measures for the tend map.

Francesc Bofill (1988)

Stochastica

Similarity:

The bifurcation structure of a one parameter dependent piecewise linear population model is described. An explicit formula is given for the density of the unique invariant absolutely continuous probability measure mu for each parameter value b. The continuity of the map b --> mu is established.

On uniqueness of G-measures and g-measures

Ai Fan (1996)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We give a simple proof of the sufficiency of a log-lipschitzian condition for the uniqueness of G-measures and g-measures which were studied by G. Brown, A. H. Dooley and M. Keane. In the opposite direction, we show that the lipschitzian condition together with positivity is not sufficient. In the special case where the defining function depends only upon two coordinates, we find a necessary and sufficient condition. The special case of Riesz products is discussed and the Hausdorff dimension...

On singularly perturbed ordinary differential equations with measure-valued limits

Zvi Artstein (2002)

Mathematica Bohemica

Similarity:

The limit behaviour of solutions of a singularly perturbed system is examined in the case where the fast flow need not converge to a stationary point. The topological convergence as well as information about the distribution of the values of the solutions can be determined in the case that the support of the limit invariant measure of the fast flow is an asymptotically stable attractor.

Topology and dynamics of unstable attractors

M. A. Morón, J. J. Sánchez-Gabites, J. M. R. Sanjurjo (2007)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

This article aims to explore the theory of unstable attractors with topological tools. A short topological analysis of the isolating blocks for unstable attractors with no external explosions leads quickly to sharp results about their shapes and some hints on how Conley's index is related to stability. Then the setting is specialized to the case of flows in ℝⁿ, where unstable attractors are seen to be dynamically complex since they must have external explosions.

On the definition of strange nonchaotic attractor

Lluís Alsedà, Sara Costa (2009)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

The aim of this paper is twofold. On the one hand, we want to discuss some methodological issues related to the notion of strange nonchaotic attractor. On the other hand, we want to formulate a precise definition of this kind of attractor, which is "observable" in the physical sense and, in the two-dimensional setting, includes the well known models proposed by Grebogi et al. and by Keller, and a wide range of other examples proposed in the literature. Furthermore, we analytically prove...
