A spectral sequence for orbifold cobordism

Andrés Ángel (2009)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

The aim of this paper is to introduce a spectral sequence that converges to the cobordism groups of orbifolds with given isotropy representations. In good cases the E¹-term of this spectral sequence is given by a certain cobordism group of orbibundles over purely ineffective orbifolds which can be identified with the bordism group of the classifying space of the Weyl group of a finite subgroup of O(n). We use this spectral sequence to calculate some cobordism groups of orbifolds for...

On class A operators

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We show that every class A operator has a scalar extension. In particular, such operators with rich spectra have nontrivial invariant subspaces. Also we give some spectral properties of the scalar extension of a class A operator. Finally, we show that every class A operator is nonhypertransitive.

Infinite dimensional linear groups with many G - invariant subspaces

Open Mathematics

Similarity:

Let F be a field, A be a vector space over F, GL(F, A) be the group of all automorphisms of the vector space A. A subspace B of A is called nearly G-invariant, if dimF(BFG/B) is finite. A subspace B is called almost G-invariant, if dim F(B/Core G(B)) is finite. In the current article, we study linear groups G such that every subspace of A is either nearly G-invariant or almost G-invariant in the case when G is a soluble p-group where p = char F.

More precisely, we consider the case when G is a periodic p′-group where p = charF. ...

The Direct and Inverse Spectral Problems for some Banded Matrices

Zagorodnyuk, S. M. (2011)

Serdica Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 15A29. In this paper we introduced a notion of the generalized spectral function for a matrix J = (gk,l)k,l = 0 Ґ, gk,l О C, such that gk,l = 0, if |k-l | > N; gk,k+N = 1, and gk,k-N № 0. Here N is a fixed positive integer. The direct and inverse spectral problems for such matrices are stated and solved. An integral representation for the generalized spectral function is obtained.

Analytic joint spectral radius in a solvable Lie algebra of operators

Daniel Beltiţă (2001)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We introduce the concept of analytic spectral radius for a family of operators indexed by some finite measure space. This spectral radius is compared with the algebraic and geometric spectral radii when the operators belong to some finite-dimensional solvable Lie algebra. We describe several situations when the three spectral radii coincide. These results extend well known facts concerning commuting n-tuples of operators.

The Levi-Civita equation, vector modules and spectral synthesis

László Székelyhidi (2013)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

The purpose of this paper is to give a survey on some recent results concerning spectral analysis and spectral synthesis in the framework of vector modules and in close connection with the Levi-Civita functional equation. Further, we present some open problems in this subject.
