2-local Jordan automorphisms on operator algebras

Ajda Fošner (2012)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We investigate 2-local Jordan automorphisms on operator algebras. In particular, we show that every 2-local Jordan automorphism of the algebra of all n× n real or complex matrices is either an automorphism or an anti-automorphism. The same is true for 2-local Jordan automorphisms of any subalgebra of ℬ which contains the ideal of all compact operators on X, where X is a real or complex separable Banach spaces and ℬ is the algebra of all bounded linear operators on X.

Jordan automorphisms of triangular algebras. II

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Similarity:

We give a sufficient condition under which any Jordan automorphism of a triangular algebra is either an automorphism or an anti-automorphism.

On λ-commuting operators

John B. Conway, Gabriel Prǎjiturǎ (2005)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

For a scalar λ, two operators T and S are said to λ-commute if TS = λST. In this note we explore the pervasiveness of the operators that λ-commute with a compact operator by characterizing the closure and the interior of the set of operators with this property.

Exponentials of normal operators and commutativity of operators: a new approach

Mohammed Hichem Mortad (2011)

Colloquium Mathematicae

Similarity:

We present a new approach to the question of when the commutativity of operator exponentials implies that of the operators. This is proved in the setting of bounded normal operators on a complex Hilbert space. The proofs are based on some results on similarities by Berberian and Embry as well as the celebrated Fuglede theorem.
