Two Applications of SWIGLIB: GraphicsMagick and Ghostscript

Luigi Scarso (2015)

Zpravodaj Československého sdružení uživatelů TeXu

Similarity:

We present two applications of SWIGLIB: a binding to the GraphicsMagick library that under certain conditions can speed up conversion of bitmaps by up to 20% and a binding to the Ghostscript library that simplifies the integration of PostScript programs in ConTeXt with the LuaTeX engine. Examples of TIFF conversion and barcodes in PostScript are shown.

Mathematical Communication and Representation in a Virtual Learning Environment

Córcoles, César, Huertas, Antonia

Similarity:

Abstract. At an exclusively online university such as the UOC the necessity for communicating mathematics in the web is pressing. In an environment that does not allow for face to face communication, things implicitly communicated when using a blackboard, such as the canonical verbalization or handwriting of formulae, are lost and become a big obstacle. Also, the editorial process for the creation of learning/teaching resources is suited for a generalist approach and, consequently, needs...

Refinement of UML collaborations

Bogumila Hnatkowska, Zbigniew Huzar, Lech Tuzinkiewicz (2006)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

The paper concerns the concept of refinement as a commonly used design practice in the software development process. The refinement relationship is formulated and formally expressed for UML collaborations. Collaborations are suitable for presenting the proposed approach as they represent both static and dynamic aspects of a modeled system or its part, for example, a use case. Our approach to refinement is based on the rule of preserving the observable behavior of a modeled system. The...
