A reverse engineering approach to the Weil representation

Anne-Marie Aubert, Tomasz Przebinda (2014)

Open Mathematics

Similarity:

We describe a new approach to the Weil representation attached to a symplectic group over a finite or a local field. We dissect the representation into small pieces, study how they work, and put them back together. This way, we obtain a reversed construction of that of T. Thomas, skipping most of the literature on which the latter is based.

New representation to reduce the search space for the resource-constrained project scheduling problem

Khaled Moumene, Jacques A. Ferland (2008)

RAIRO - Operations Research

Similarity:

This paper describes a new representation for the solutions of the resource-constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) denoted Activity Set List. The most efficient heuristics for the problem use the activity list representation and the serial SGS method to construct the corresponding solution (schedule). The activity list may induce a search space of representations much larger then the space of schedules because the same schedule can correspond to many different activity list...

File Format for Storage of Multimedia Information

Armyanov, Peter (2010)

Mathematica Balkanica New Series

Similarity:

AMS Subj. Classification: 68U05, 68P30 This article studies problems referring to storage, editing and streaming vector graphics and animation. The advantages and disadvantages of existing formats are reviewed and some suggestions to solve the problems are given. An approach for generating vector stream in a format, that allows embedding of additional media such audio and descriptive meta data is introduced. In parallel the problem of conversion multimedia files from one container...
