Some examples of Gorenstein liaison in codimension three.

Robin Hartshorne (2002)

Collectanea Mathematica

Similarity:

Gorenstein liaison seems to be the natural notion to generalize to higher codimension the well-known results about liaison of varieties of codimension 2 in projective space. In this paper we study points in P3 and curves in P4 in an attempt to see how far typical codimension 2 results will extend. While the results are satisfactory for small degree, we find in each case examples where we cannot decide the outcome. This examples are candidates for counterexamples to the hoped-for extensions...

Geometry of arithmetically Gorenstein curves in P.

Robin Hartshorne (2004)

Collectanea Mathematica

Similarity:

We characterize the postulation character of arithmetically Gorenstein curves in P. We give conditions under which the curve can be realized in the form mH - K on some ACM surface. Finally, we complement a theorem by Watanabe by showing that any general arithmetically Gorenstein curve in P with arbitrary fixed postulation character can be obtained from a line by a series of ascending complete-intersection biliaisons.

Gorenstein liaison of some curves in P.

Joshua Lesperance (2001)

Collectanea Mathematica

Similarity:

Despite the recent advances made in Gorenstein liaison, there are still many open questions for the theory in codimension ≥ 3. In particular we consider the following question: given two curves in P with isomorphic deficiency modules (up to shift), can they be evenly Gorenstein linked? The answer for this is yes for curves in P, due to Rao, but for higher codimension the answer is not known. This paper will look at large classes of curves in P with isomorphic deficiency modules and show...

Limit Weierstrass schemes on stable curves with 2 irreducible components

Marc Coppens, Letterio Gatto (2001)

Atti della Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali. Rendiconti Lincei. Matematica e Applicazioni

Similarity:

We are concerned with limits of Weierstrass points under degeneration of smooth curves to stable curves of non compact type, union of two irreducible smooth components meeting transversely at m 1 points. The case m = 1 having already been treated by Eisenbud and Harris in [8], we analyze the situation for m > 1 .
