Cyclic homology and equivariant theories

In this article, we present two possible extensions of the classical theory of equivariant cohomology. The first, due to P. Baum, R. MacPherson and the author, is called the “delocalized theory". We attempt to present it in very concrete form for a circle action on a smooth manifold. The second is the cyclic homology of the crossed- product algebra of the algebra of smooth functions on a manifold, by the convolution algebra of smooth functions on a Lie group, when such Lie group act...

The S1-CW decomposition of the geometric realization of a cyclic set

Similarity:

We show that the geometric realization of a cyclic set has a natural, S 1 -equivariant, cellular decomposition. As an application, we give another proof of a well-known isomorphism between cyclic homology of a cyclic space and S 1 -equivariant Borel homology of its geometric realization.

Equivariant algebraic topology

Let G be a topological group. We give the existence of an equivariant homology and cohomology theory, defined on the category of all G -pairs and G -maps, which both satisfy all seven equivariant Eilenberg-Steenrod axioms and have a given covariant and contravariant, respectively, coefficient system as coefficients. In the case that G is a compact Lie group we also define equivariant C W -complexes and mention some of their basic properties. The paper is a short abstract...

On equivariant deformations of maps.

Antonio Vidal (1988)

We work in the smooth category: manifolds and maps are meant to be smooth. Let G be a finite group acting on a connected closed manifold X and f an equivariant self-map on X with f|A fixpointfree, where A is a closed invariant submanifold of X with codim A ≥ 3. The purpose of this paper is to give a proof using obstruction theory of the following fact: If X is simply connected and the action of G on X - A is free, then f is equivariantly deformable rel. A to fixed...
