Irreducible components of rigid spaces

Brian Conrad (1999)

Annales de l'institut Fourier

Similarity:

This paper lays the foundations for the global theory of irreducible components of rigid analytic spaces over a complete field k . We prove the excellence of the local rings on rigid spaces over k . This is used to prove the standard existence theorems and to show compatibility with the notion of irreducible components for schemes and formal schemes. Behavior with respect to extension of the base field is also studied. It is often necessary to augment scheme-theoretic techniques with other...

Concerning the sum of two continua each irreducible between the same pair of points

John Kline (1925)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

The first part of the paper answers the question whether two different continua, each irreducible between the same pair of points could have a sum irreducible between two of its points. The second part shows certain properties of continua irreducible between the same pair of points and having the above mentioned property with respect to their sum.

Finite dimensional rings of quotients.

H. Leroy Hutson (1993)

Publicacions Matemàtiques

Similarity:

In this paper we characterize commutative rings with finite dimensional classical ring of quotients. To illustrate the diversity of behavior of these rings we examine the case of local rings and FPF rings. Our results extend earlier work on rings with zero-dimensional rings of quotients.
