On the geometry of algebraic curves having many real components.

J. Huisman (2001)

Revista Matemática Complutense

Similarity:

We show that there is a large class of nonspecial effective divisors of relatively small degree on real algebraic curves having many real components i.e. on M-curves. We apply to 1. complete linear systems on M-curves containing divisors with entirely real support, and 2. morphisms of M-curves into P1.

Limit Weierstrass schemes on stable curves with 2 irreducible components

Marc Coppens, Letterio Gatto (2001)

Atti della Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali. Rendiconti Lincei. Matematica e Applicazioni

Similarity:

We are concerned with limits of Weierstrass points under degeneration of smooth curves to stable curves of non compact type, union of two irreducible smooth components meeting transversely at m 1 points. The case m = 1 having already been treated by Eisenbud and Harris in [8], we analyze the situation for m > 1 .

Characterization of compact subsets of curves with ω-continuous derivatives

Marcin Pilipczuk (2011)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

We give a characterization of compact subsets of finite unions of disjoint finite-length curves in ℝⁿ with ω-continuous derivative and without self-intersections. Intuitively, our condition can be formulated as follows: there exists a finite set of regular curves covering a compact set K iff every triple of points of K behaves like a triple of points of a regular curve. This work was inspired by theorems by Jones, Okikiolu, Schul and others that characterize compact...
