Solvability of the functional equation f = (T-I)h for vector-valued functions

Ryotaro Sato (2004)

Colloquium Mathematicae

Let X be a reflexive Banach space and (Ω,,μ) be a probability measure space. Let T: M(μ;X) → M(μ;X) be a linear operator, where M(μ;X) is the space of all X-valued strongly measurable functions on (Ω,,μ). We assume that T is continuous in the sense that if (fₙ) is a sequence in M(μ;X) and l i m n f = f in measure for some f ∈ M(μ;X), then also l i m n T f = T f in measure. Then we consider the functional equation f = (T-I)h, where f ∈ M(μ;X) is given. We obtain several conditions for the existence of h ∈ M(μ;X) satisfying...

Some aspects of the local theory of generalized Dhombres functional equations in the complex domain

Jörg Tomaschek (2012)

ESAIM: Proceedings

We study the generalized Dhombres functional equation f(zf(z)) = ϕ(f(z)) in the complex domain. The function ϕ is given and we are looking for solutions f with f(0) = w0 and w0 is a primitive root of unity of order l ≥ 2. All formal solutions for this case are described in this work, for the situation where ϕ can be transformed into a function which is linearizable and local analytic in a neighbourhood of zero we also show...

Some boundedness results for systems of two rational difference equations

Gabriel Lugo, Frank Palladino (2010)

Open Mathematics

We study k th order systems of two rational difference equations x n = α + i = 1 k β i x n - 1 + i = 1 k γ i y n - 1 A + j = 1 k B j x n - j + j = 1 k C j y n - j , y n = p + i = 1 k δ i x n - i + i = 1 k ε i y n - i q + j = 1 k D j x n - j + j = 1 k E j y n - j n . In particular, we assume non-negative parameters and non-negative initial conditions, such that the denominators are nonzero. We develop several approaches which allow us to extend well known boundedness results on the k th order rational difference equation to the setting of systems in certain cases.
