We deal with an optimal control problem with respect to a variable thickness for a dynamic viscoelastic plate with velocity constraints. The state problem has the form of a pseudohyperbolic variational inequality. The existence and uniqueness theorem for the state problem and the existence of an optimal thickness function are proved.
We consider a class of Volterra-type integral equations in a Hilbert space. The operators of the equation considered appear as time-dependent functions with values in the space of linear continuous operators mapping the Hilbert space into its dual. We are looking for maximal values of cost functionals with respect to the admissible set of operators. The existence of a solution in the continuous and the discretized form is verified. The convergence analysis is performed. The results are applied to...
The solvability of the contact problem is proved provided the plate is simply supported. The singular memory material is assumed. This makes it possible to get a priori estimates important for the strong convergence of gradients of velocities of solutions to the penalized problem.
We deal with the system describing moderately large deflections of thin viscoelastic plates with an inner obstacle. In the case of a long memory the system consists of an integro-differential 4th order variational inequality for the deflection and an equation with a biharmonic left-hand side and an integro-differential right-hand side for the Airy stress function. The existence of a solution in a special case of the Dirichlet-Prony series is verified by transforming the problem into a sequence of...
We deal with an optimal control problem governed by a pseudoparabolic variational inequality with controls in coefficients and in convex sets of admissible states. The existence theorem for an optimal control parameter will be proved. We apply the theory to the original design problem for a deffection of a viscoelastic plate with an obstacle, where the variable thickness of the plate appears as a control variable.
The existence and the unicity of a weak solution of the boundary value problem for a shallow shell reinforced with stiffening ribs is proved by the direct variational method. The boundary value problem is solved in the space , on which the corresponding bilinear form is coercive. A finite element method for numerical solution is introduced. The approximate solutions converge to a weak solution in the space .
In this paper the contact problem for a cylindrical shell and a stiff punch is studied. The existence and uniqueness of a solution is verified. The finite element method is discussed.
We deal with an optimal control problem for variational inequalities, where the monotone operators as well as the convex sets of possible states depend on the control parameter. The existence theorem for the optimal control will be applied to the optimal design problems for an elasto-plastic beam and an elastic plate, where a variable thickness appears as a control variable.
An optimization problem for the unilateral contact between a pseudoplate and a rigid obstacle is considered. The variable thickness of the pseudoplate plays the role of a control variable. The cost functional is a regular functional only in the smooth case. The existence of an optimal thickness is verified. The penalized optimal control problem is considered in the general case.
We shall deal with an optimal control problem for the deffection of a thin elastic plate. We consider the perpendicular load on the plate as the control variable. In contrast to the papers [1], [2], arbitrarily large loads are edmitted. As the unicity of a solution of the state equation is not guaranteed, we consider the cost functional defined on the set of admissible controls and states, and the state equation plays the role of the constraint. The existence of an optimal couple (i.e., control...
A control of the system of Kármán's equations for a thin elastic plate is considered. Existence of an optimal transversal load and optimal stress function, respectively, is proven. The set of admissible functions is chosen in a way guaranteeing the unique solvability of the state problem. The differentiability of the state function with respect to the control variable, uniqueness of the optimal control and some necessary conditions of optimality are discussed.
A control of the system of nonlinear Kármán's equations for a thin elastic plate with clamped edge is considered. The transversal loading plays the role of the control variable. The set of admissible controls is chosen in a way guaranteeing the unique solvability of the state function with respect to the control variable is proved. A disscussion of uniqueness of the optimal control and some necessary conditions of optimality are presented.
A mathematical model of the equilibrium problem of elastic sandwich plates is established. Using the theory of inequalities of Korn's type for a general class of elliptic systems the existence and uniqueness of a variational solution is proved.
