k-th rekord values from Dagum distribution and characterization

Devendra Kumar (2016)

Discussiones Mathematicae Probability and Statistics

Similarity:

In this study, we gave some new explicit expressions and recurrence relations satisfied by single and product moments of k-th lower record values from Dagum distribution. Next we show that the result for the record values from the Dagum distribution can be derived from our result as special case. Further, using a recurrence relation for single moments and conditional expectation of record values we obtain characterization of Dagum distribution. In addition, we use the established explicit...

A multimodal beta distribution with application to economic data

Saralees Nadarajah, Samuel Kotz (2007)

Applicationes Mathematicae

Similarity:

Beta distributions are popular models for economic data. In this paper, a new multimodal beta distribution with bathtub shaped failure rate function is introduced. Various structural properties of this distribution are derived, including its cdf, moments, mean deviation about the mean, mean deviation about the median, entropy, asymptotic distribution of the extreme order statistics, maximum likelihood estimates and the Fisher information matrix. Finally, an application to consumer price...

A compound of the generalized negative binomial distribution with the generalized beta distribution

Tadeusz Gerstenkorn (2004)

Open Mathematics

Similarity:

This paper presents a compound of the generalized negative binomial distribution with the generalized beta distribution. In the introductory part of the paper, we provide a chronological overview of recent developments in the compounding of distributions, including the Polish results. Then, in addition to presenting the probability function of the compound generalized negative binomial-generalized beta distribution, we present special cases as well as factorial and crude moments of some...

k -Depth-nearest Neighbour Method and its Performance on Skew-normal Distributons

Ondřej Vencálek (2013)

Acta Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis. Facultas Rerum Naturalium. Mathematica

Similarity:

In the present paper we investigate performance of the k -depth-nearest classifier. This classifier, proposed recently by Vencálek, uses the concept of data depth to improve the classification method known as the k -nearest neighbour. Simulation study which is presented here deals with the two-class classification problem in which the considered distributions belong to the family of skewed normal distributions.
