A family of 4-designs on 26 points

Dragan M. Acketa, Vojislav Mudrinski (1996)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Similarity:

Using the Kramer-Mesner method, 4 - ( 26 , 6 , λ ) designs with P S L ( 2 , 25 ) as a group of automorphisms and with λ in the set { 30 , 51 , 60 , 81 , 90 , 111 } are constructed. The search uses specific partitioning of columns of the orbit incidence matrix, related to so-called “quasi-designs”. Actions of groups P S L ( 2 , 25 ) , P G L ( 2 , 25 ) and twisted P G L ( 2 , 25 ) are being compared. It is shown that there exist 4 - ( 26 , 6 , λ ) designs with P G L ( 2 , 25 ) , respectively twisted P G L ( 2 , 25 ) as a group of automorphisms and with λ in the set { 51 , 60 , 81 , 90 , 111 } . With λ in the set { 60 , 81 } , there exist designs which possess all three considered...

New Symmetric (61,16,4) Designs Invariant Under the Dihedral Group of Order 10

Landjev, Ivan, Topalova, Svetlana (1998)

Serdica Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

∗ This work has been partially supported by the Bulgarian NSF under Contract No. I-506/1995. In this note we construct five new symmetric 2-(61,16,4) designs invariant under the dihedral group of order 10. As a by-product we obtain 25 new residual 2-(45,12,4) designs. The automorphism groups of all new designs are computed.

A Method for Classification of Doubly Resolvable Designs and Its Application

Zhelezova, Stela (2011)

Serdica Journal of Computing

Similarity:

This article presents the principal results of the Ph.D. thesis Investigation and classification of doubly resolvable designs by Stela Zhelezova (Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, BAS), successfully defended at the Specialized Academic Council for Informatics and Mathematical Modeling on 22 February 2010. The resolvability of combinatorial designs is intensively investigated because of its applications. This research focuses on resolvable designs with an additional...

A note on the relations between two ternary balanced block designs and chemical balance weighing designs

Katarzyna Ambroży, Bronisław Ceranka (2001)

Discussiones Mathematicae Probability and Statistics

Similarity:

The paper studied the problem of estimating of the weights of p objects in n weighings using a chemical balance weighing design under the restriction on the number of objects which can be placed on the right and left pans, respectively. Conditions under which the estimated weights are uncorrelated are given. The incidence matrices of two ternary balanced block designs which are used to construct chemical balance weighing designs satisfying these conditions are considered.

A unified terminology in block designs

Tadeusz Caliński, Sanpei Kageyama (2004)

Discussiones Mathematicae Probability and Statistics

Similarity:

Partially efficiency balanced (PEB) designs with m efficiency classes have been defined by Puri and Nigam [15] as block designs which have simple analysis and, if properly used, allow the important contrasts to be estimated with desired efficiency. Such designs can be made available in varying replications and/or unequal block sizes. However, any block design is a PEB design with m efficiency classes for some m < v, where v is the number of treatments in the design. So the term "PEB"...

On a characterization of symmetric balanced incomplete block designs

R.N. Mohan, Sanpei Kageyama, M.M. Nair (2004)

Discussiones Mathematicae Probability and Statistics

Similarity:

All the symmetric balanced incomplete block (SBIB) designs have been characterized and a new generalized expression on parameters of SBIB designs has been obtained. The parameter b has been formulated in a different way which is denoted by bi, i = 1, 2, 3, associating with the types of the SBIB design Di. The parameters of all the designs obtained through this representation have been tabulated while corresponding them with the suitable formulae for the number ofblocks bi and the expression...
