Periodic dynamics in a model of immune system

Marek Bodnar, Urszula Foryś (2000)

Applicationes Mathematicae

Similarity:

The aim of this paper is to study periodic solutions of Marchuk's model, i.e. the system of ordinary differential equations with time delay describing the immune reactions. The Hopf bifurcation theorem is used to show the existence of a periodic solution for some values of the delay. Periodic dynamics caused by periodic immune reactivity or periodic initial data functions are compared. Autocorrelation functions are used to check the periodicity or quasiperiodicity of behaviour. ...

A periodic model for the dynamics of cell volume

Philip Korman (2016)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

Similarity:

We prove the existence and uniqueness of a positive periodic solution for a model describing the dynamics of cell volume flux, introduced by Julio A. Hernández [Bull. Math. Biol. 69 (2007), 1631-1648]. We also show that the periodic solution is a global attractor. Our results confirm the conjectures made in an interesting recent book of P. J. Torres [Atlantis Press, 2015].

Dynamical behavior of Volterra model with mutual interference concerning IPM

Yujuan Zhang, Bing Liu, Lansun Chen (2010)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis

Similarity:

A Volterra model with mutual interference concerning integrated pest management is proposed and analyzed. By using Floquet theorem and small amplitude perturbation method and comparison theorem, we show the existence of a globally asymptotically stable pest-eradication periodic solution. Further, we prove that when the stability of pest-eradication periodic solution is lost, the system is permanent and there exists a locally stable positive periodic solution which arises from the pest-eradication...

Periodic Solutions in a Mathematical Model for the Treatment of Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia

A. Halanay (2012)

Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena

Similarity:

Existence and stability of periodic solutions are studied for a system of delay differential equations with two delays, with periodic coefficients. It models the evolution of hematopoietic stem cells and mature neutrophil cells in chronic myelogenous leukemia under a periodic treatment that acts only on mature cells. Existence of a guiding function leads to the proof of the existence of a strictly positive periodic solution by a theorem...

Existence and uniqueness of positive periodic solutions of delayed Nicholson's blowflies models

Fei Long, Bingwen Liu (2012)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

Similarity:

This paper is concerned with a class of Nicholson's blowflies models with multiple time-varying delays. By applying the coincidence degree, some criteria are established for the existence and uniqueness of positive periodic solutions of the model. Moreover, a totally new approach to proving the uniqueness of positive periodic solutions is proposed. In particular, an example is employed to illustrate the main results.

Global exponential stability of positive periodic solutions for an epidemic model with saturated treatment

Bingwen Liu (2016)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

Similarity:

This paper is concerned with an SIR model with periodic incidence rate and saturated treatment function. Under proper conditions, we employ a novel argument to establish a criterion on the global exponential stability of positive periodic solutions for this model. The result obtained improves and supplements existing ones. We also use numerical simulations to illustrate our theoretical results.
