A unified approach to stability analysis of switched linear descriptor systems under arbitrary switching

Guisheng Zhai, Xuping Xu (2010)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

We establish a unified approach to stability analysis for switched linear descriptor systems under arbitrary switching in both continuous-time and discrete-time domains. The approach is based on common quadratic Lyapunov functions incorporated with linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). We show that if there is a common quadratic Lyapunov function for the stability of all subsystems, then the switched system is stable under arbitrary switching. The analysis results are natural extensions...

Positive 2D discrete-time linear Lyapunov systems

Przemysław Przyborowski, Tadeusz Kaczorek (2009)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

Two models of positive 2D discrete-time linear Lyapunov systems are introduced. For both the models necessary and sufficient conditions for positivity, asymptotic stability, reachability and observability are established. The discussion is illustrated with numerical examples.

Admissible disturbance sets for discrete perturbed systems

Jamal Bouyaghroumni, Abdelhaq El Jai, Mostafa Rachik (2001)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

We consider a discrete disturbed system given by the difference bilinear equation where are disturbances which excite the system in a linear and a bilinear form. We assume that the system is augmented with the output function. Let be a tolerance index on the output. The disturbance is said to be -admissible if, where is the output signal associated with the case of an uninfected system. The set of all -admissible disturbances is the admissible set. The characterization of is investigated...

Independence of asymptotic stability of positive 2D linear systems with delays of their delays

Tadeusz Kaczorek (2009)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

It is shown that the asymptotic stability of positive 2D linear systems with delays is independent of the number and values of the delays and it depends only on the sum of the system matrices, and that the checking of the asymptotic stability of positive 2D linear systems with delays can be reduced to testing that of the corresponding positive 1D systems without delays. The effectiveness of the proposed approaches is demonstrated on numerical examples.

On Nonadaptive Search Problem

Serdica Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 91A46, 91A35. We consider nonadaptive search problem for an unknown element x from the set A = {1, 2, 3, . . . , 2^n}, n ≥ 3. For fixed integer S the questions are of the form: Does x belong to a subset B of A, where the sum of the elements of B is equal to S? We wish to find all integers S for which nonadaptive search with n questions finds x. We continue our investigation from [4] and solve the last remaining case n = 2^k , k ≥ 2. ...

Similarity transformation of matrices to one common canonical form and its applications to 2D linear systems

Tadeusz Kaczorek (2010)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

The notion of a common canonical form for a sequence of square matrices is introduced. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a similarity transformation reducing the sequence of matrices to the common canonical form are established. It is shown that (i) using a suitable state vector linear transformation it is possible to decompose a linear 2D system into two linear 2D subsystems such that the dynamics of the second subsystem are independent of those of the first one,...

Positive partial realization problem for linear discrete-time systems

Tadeusz Kaczorek (2007)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

A partial realization problem for positive linear discrete-time systems is addressed. Sufficient conditions for the existence of its solution are established. A procedure for the computation of a positive partial realization for a given finite sequence of the values of the impulse response is proposed. The procedure is illustrated by four numerical examples.
