Estimation of feedwater heater parameters based on a grey-box approach

Tomasz Barszcz, Piotr Czop (2011)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

The first-principle modeling of a feedwater heater operating in a coal-fired power unit is presented, along with a theoretical discussion concerning its structural simplifications, parameter estimation, and dynamical validation. The model is a part of the component library of modeling environments, called the Virtual Power Plant (VPP). The main purpose of the VPP is simulation of power generation installations intended for early warning diagnostic applications. The model was developed...

On a 1-D model of stress relaxation in an annealed glass

Vladimír Janovský, David Just (2002)

Applications of Mathematics

Similarity:

A 1-D model of a slab of glass of a small thickness is considered. The governing equations are those of the classical 1-D linear viscoelasticity. A load due to the temperature gradients is assumed. The aim is to model the process called annealing. It is shown that an additional load due to structural strain is crucial for the success of the model. Algorithms of a numerical solution of the governing equations are proposed. Numerical results are presented and commented.

Modeling Pulsatility in the Human Cardiovascular System

de los Reyes V, Aurelio, Kappel, Franz (2010)

Mathematica Balkanica New Series

Similarity:

AMS Subj. Classification: 92C30 In this study we investigated, modified and combined two existing mathematical cardiovascular models, a non-pulsatile global model and a simplified pulsatile left heart model. The first goal of the study was to integrate these models. The main objective is to have a global lumped parameter pulsatile model that predicts the pressures in the systemic and pulmonary circulation, and specifically the pulsatile pressures in the the finger arteries where...

Advances in parallel heterogeneous genetic algorithms for continuous optimization

Enrique Alba, Francisco Luna, Antonio Nebro (2004)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

In this paper we address an extension of a very efficient genetic algorithm (GA) known as Hy3, a physical parallelization of the gradual distributed real-coded GA (GD-RCGA). This search model relies on a set of eight subpopulations residing in a cube topology having two faces for promoting exploration and exploitation. The resulting technique has been shown to yield very accurate results in continuous optimization by using crossover operators tuned to explore and exploit the solutions...

Well-posedness of a thermo-mechanical model for shape memory alloys under tension

Pavel Krejčí, Ulisse Stefanelli (2010)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis

Similarity:

We present a model of the full thermo-mechanical evolution of a shape memory body undergoing a uniaxial tensile stress. The well-posedness of the related quasi-static thermo-inelastic problem is addressed by means of hysteresis operators techniques. As a by-product, details on a time-discretization of the problem are provided.
