Non-similarity of Walsh and trigonometric systems

P. Wojtaszczyk (2000)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We show that in L p for p ≠ 2 the constants of equivalence between finite initial segments of the Walsh and trigonometric systems have power type growth. We also show that the Riemann ideal norms connected with those systems have power type growth.

On Wiener–Hopf factors for stable processes

Annales de l'I.H.P. Probabilités et statistiques

Similarity:

We give a series representation of the logarithm of the bivariate Laplace exponent of -stable processes for almost all ∈ (0, 2].

Ideal norms and trigonometric orthonormal systems

Jörg Wenzel (1994)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We characterize the UMD-property of a Banach space X by sequences of ideal norms associated with trigonometric orthonormal systems. The asymptotic behavior of those numerical parameters can be used to decide whether X is a UMD-space. Moreover, if this is not the case, we obtain a measure that shows how far X is from being a UMD-space. The main result is that all described sequences are not only simultaneously bounded but are also asymptotically equivalent.

A class of integrable polynomial vector fields

Javier Chavarriga (1995)

Applicationes Mathematicae

Similarity:

We study the integrability of two-dimensional autonomous systems in the plane of the form = - y + X s ( x , y ) , = x + Y s ( x , y ) , where Xs(x,y) and Ys(x,y) are homogeneous polynomials of degree s with s≥2. First, we give a method for finding polynomial particular solutions and next we characterize a class of integrable systems which have a null divergence factor given by a quadratic polynomial in the variable ( x 2 + y 2 ) s / 2 - 1 with coefficients being functions of tan−1(y/x).
