A new large cardinal and Laver sequences for extendibles

Paul Corazza (1997)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

We define a new large cardinal axiom that fits between A 3 and A 4 in the hierarchy of axioms described in [SRK]. We use this new axiom to obtain a Laver sequence for extendible cardinals, improving the known large cardinal upper bound for the existence of such sequences.

On addition of two distinct sets of integers

Vsevolod F. Lev, Pavel Y. Smeliansky (1995)

Acta Arithmetica

Similarity:

What is the structure of a pair of finite integers sets A,B ⊂ ℤ with the small value of |A+B|? We answer this question for addition coefficient 3. The obtained theorem sharpens the corresponding results of G. Freiman.
