Optimization of parameters in the Menzerath–Altmann law

Ján Andres, Lubomír Kubáček, Jitka Machalová, Michaela Tučková (2012)

Acta Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis. Facultas Rerum Naturalium. Mathematica

Similarity:

Four formulas of the Menzerath–Altmann law are tested from the point of view of their applicability and suitability. The accuracy of related approximations of measured data is examined by the least square method at first. Then the accuracy of calculated parameters in the formulas under consideration is compared statistically. The influence of neglecting parameter c is investigated as well. Finally, the obtained results are discussed by means of an illustrative example from quantitative...

Eigenvalue distribution for non-self-adjoint operators with small multiplicative random perturbations

Johannes Sjöstrand (2009)

Annales de la faculté des sciences de Toulouse Mathématiques

Similarity:

In this work we continue the study of the Weyl asymptotics of the distribution of eigenvalues of non-self-adjoint (pseudo)differential operators with small random perturbations, by treating the case of multiplicative perturbations in arbitrary dimension. We were led to quite essential improvements of many of the probabilistic aspects.

Spherical detectors of gravitational waves

J. Lobo (1997)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

Resonant mass detectors of GWs of spherical shape constitute the fourth generation of such kind of antennae, and are scheduled to start operation in the near future. In this communication I present a general description of the fundamental principles underlying the physics of this kind of detector, as well as of the motion sensor set suitable to retrieve the information generated by the incidence of a GW on the antenna.
