Hyperbolic Fourth-R Quadratic Equation and Holomorphic Fourth-R Polynomials

Apostolova, Lilia N. (2012)

Mathematica Balkanica New Series

Similarity:

MSC 2010: 30C10, 32A30, 30G35 The algebra R(1; j; j2; j3), j4 = ¡1 of the fourth-R numbers, or in other words the algebra of the double-complex numbers C(1; j) and the corresponding functions, were studied in the papers of S. Dimiev and al. (see [1], [2], [3], [4]). The hyperbolic fourth-R numbers form other similar to C(1; j) algebra with zero divisors. In this note the square roots of hyperbolic fourth-R numbers and hyperbolic complex numbers are found. The quadratic equation...

Boundaries of right-angled hyperbolic buildings

Jan Dymara, Damian Osajda (2007)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

We prove that the boundary of a right-angled hyperbolic building is a universal Menger space. As a consequence, the 3-dimensional universal Menger space is the boundary of some Gromov-hyperbolic group.

Hyperbolic-like manifolds, geometrical properties and holomorphic mappings

Grzegorz Boryczka, Luis Tovar (1996)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

The authors are dealing with the Dirichlet integral-type biholomorphic-invariant pseudodistance ρ X α ( z 0 , z ) [ ] introduced by Dolbeault and Ławrynowicz (1989) in connection with bordered holomorphic chains of dimension one. Several properties of the related hyperbolic-like manifolds are considered remarking the analogies with and differences from the familiar hyperbolic and Stein manifolds. Likewise several examples are treated in detail.

Remarks on the relative intrinsic pseudo-distance and hyperbolic imbeddability

Nguyen Doan Tuan, Pham Viet Duc (2005)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

Similarity:

We prove the invariance of hyperbolic imbeddability under holomorphic fiber bundles with compact hyperbolic fibers. Moreover, we show an example concerning the relation between the Kobayashi relative intrinsic pseudo-distance of a holomorphic fiber bundle and the one in its base.

Poincaré-Hopf index and partial hyperbolicity

C. A Morales (2008)

Annales de la faculté des sciences de Toulouse Mathématiques

Similarity:

We use the theory of partially hyperbolic systems [HPS] in order to find singularities of index 1 for vector fields with isolated zeroes in a 3 -ball. Indeed, we prove that such zeroes exists provided the maximal invariant set in the ball is partially hyperbolic, with volume expanding central subbundle, and the strong stable manifolds of the singularities are unknotted in the ball.

Levi-flat filling of real two-spheres in symplectic manifolds (I)

Hervé Gaussier, Alexandre Sukhov (2011)

Annales de la faculté des sciences de Toulouse Mathématiques

Similarity:

Let ( M , J , ω ) be a manifold with an almost complex structure J tamed by a symplectic form ω . We suppose that M has the complex dimension two, is Levi-convex and with bounded geometry. We prove that a real two-sphere with two elliptic points, embedded into the boundary of M can be foliated by the boundaries of pseudoholomorphic discs.
