A class–field theoretical calculation

Cristian D. Popescu (2006)

Journal de Théorie des Nombres de Bordeaux

Similarity:

In this paper, we give the complete characterization of the p –torsion subgroups of certain idèle–class groups associated to characteristic p function fields. As an application, we answer a question which arose in the context of Tan’s approach [] to an important particular case of a generalization of a conjecture of Gross [] on special values of L –functions.

The nonseparability of simply presented mixed groups

Paul Hill, Charles K. Megibben (1998)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Similarity:

It is demonstrated that an isotype subgroup of a simply presented abelian group can be simply presented without being a separable subgroup. In particular, the conjecture based on a variety of special cases that Warfield groups are absolutely separable is disproved.

Classification of self-dual torsion-free LCA groups

S. Wu (1992)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

In this paper we seek to describe the structure of self-dual torsion-free LCA groups. We first present a proof of the structure theorem of self-dual torsion-free metric LCA groups. Then we generalize the structure theorem to a larger class of self-dual torsion-free LCA groups. We also give a characterization of torsion-free divisible LCA groups. Consequently, a complete classification of self-dual divisible LCA groups is obtained; and any self-dual torsion-free LCA group can be regarded...
