Homogenization of quasilinear parabolic problems by the method of Rothe and two scale convergence

Applications of Mathematics

Similarity:

We consider a quasilinear parabolic problem with time dependent coefficients oscillating rapidly in the space variable. The existence and uniqueness results are proved by using Rothe’s method combined with the technique of two-scale convergence. Moreover, we derive a concrete homogenization algorithm for giving a unique and computable approximation of the solution.

Global solution to a generalized nonisothermal Ginzburg-Landau system

Nesrine Fterich (2010)

Applications of Mathematics

Similarity:

The article deals with a nonlinear generalized Ginzburg-Landau (Allen-Cahn) system of PDEs accounting for nonisothermal phase transition phenomena which was recently derived by A. Miranville and G. Schimperna: Nonisothermal phase separation based on a microforce balance, Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst., Ser. B, (2005), 753–768. The existence of solutions to a related Neumann-Robin problem is established in an N 3 -dimensional space setting. A fixed point procedure guarantees the existence...

Covariance algebra of a partial dynamical system

Bartosz Kosma Kwaśniewski (2005)

Open Mathematics

Similarity:

A pair (X, α) is a partial dynamical system if X is a compact topological space and α: Δ→ X is a continuous mapping such that Δ is open. Additionally we assume here that Δ is closed and α(Δ) is open. Such systems arise naturally while dealing with commutative C *-dynamical systems. In this paper we construct and investigate a universal C *-algebra C *(X,α) which agrees with the partial crossed product [10] in the case α is injective, and with the crossed product by a monomorphism [22]...
