Similarity:

We prove a structural property of the class of unconditionally saturated separable Banach spaces. We show, in particular, that for every analytic set 𝓐, in the Effros-Borel space of subspaces of C[0,1], of unconditionally saturated separable Banach spaces, there exists an unconditionally saturated Banach space Y, with a Schauder basis, that contains isomorphic copies of every space X in the class 𝓐.

On essentially incomparable Banach spaces.

Similarity:

We introduce the concept of essentially incomparable Banach spaces, and give some examples. Then, for two essentially incomparable Banach spaces X and Y, we prove that a complemented subspace of the product X x Y is isomorphic to the product of a complemented subspace of X and a complemented subspace of Y. If, additionally, X and Y are isomorphic to their respective hyperplanes, then the group of invertible operators in X x Y is not connected. The results can be applied to some classical...

Types of tightness in spaces with unconditional basis

Similarity:

We present a reflexive Banach space with an unconditional basis which is quasi-minimal and tight by range, i.e. of type (4) in Ferenczi-Rosendal's list related to Gowers' classification program of Banach spaces, but in contrast to the recently constructed space of type (4), our space is also tight with constants, thus essentially extending the list of known examples in Gowers' program. The space is defined on the basis of a boundedly modified mixed Tsirelson space with the use of a special...

Quotients of Banach spaces and surjectively universal spaces

We characterize those classes 𝓒 of separable Banach spaces for which there exists a separable Banach space Y not containing ℓ₁ and such that every space in the class 𝓒 is a quotient of Y.

A note on weakly Lindelöf determined Banach spaces

Similarity:

We prove that weakly Lindelöf determined Banach spaces are characterized by the existence of a ``full'' projectional generator. Some other results pertaining to this class of Banach spaces are given.
