When a unital F-algebra has all maximal left (right) ideals closed?

W. Żelazko (2006)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We prove that a real or complex unital F-algebra has all maximal left ideals closed if and only if the set of all its invertible elements is open. Consequently, such an algebra also automatically has all maximal right ideals closed.

Operator spaces which are one-sided M-ideals in their bidual

Sonia Sharma (2010)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We generalize an important class of Banach spaces, the M-embedded Banach spaces, to the non-commutative setting of operator spaces. The one-sided M-embedded operator spaces are the operator spaces which are one-sided M-ideals in their second dual. We show that several properties from the classical setting, like the stability under taking subspaces and quotients, unique extension property, Radon-Nikodým property and many more, are retained in the non-commutative setting. We also discuss...

The history of a general criterium on spaceability

Víctor M. Sánchez (2017)

Open Mathematics

Similarity:

There are just a few general criteria on spaceability. This survey paper is the history of one of the first ones. Let I1 and I2 be arbitrary operator ideals and E and F be Banach spaces. The spaceability of the set of operators I1(E, F) I2(E, F) is studied. Before stating the criterium, the paper summarizes the main results about lineability and spaceability of differences between particular operator ideals obtained in recent years. They are the seed of the ideas contained in the general...

Foldness of Commutative Ideals in BCK-algebras

Celestin Lele, Salissou Moutari (2006)

Discussiones Mathematicae - General Algebra and Applications

Similarity:

This paper deals with some properties of n-fold commutative ideals and n-fold weak commutative ideals in BCK-algebras. Afterwards, we construct some algorithms for studying foldness theory of commutative ideals in BCK-algebras.

A characterization of Q-algebras of type F

W. Żelazko (2004)

Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

We prove that a real or complex unital F-algebra is a Q-algebra if and only if all its maximal one-sided ideals are closed.

Local properties of accessible injective operator ideals

F. Oertel (1998)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

In addition to Pisier’s counterexample of a non-accessible maximal Banach ideal, we will give a large class of maximal Banach ideals which are accessible. The first step is implied by the observation that a “good behaviour” of trace duality, which is canonically induced by conjugate operator ideals can be extended to adjoint Banach ideals, if and only if these adjoint ideals satisfy an accessibility condition (theorem 3.1). This observation leads in a natural way to a characterization...

Alternative noetherian Banach algebras.

M. Benslimane, N. Boudi (1997)

Extracta Mathematicae

Similarity:

Sinclair and Tullo [6] proved that noetherian Banach algebras are finite-dimensional. In [3], Grabiner studied noetherian Banach modules. In this paper, we are concerned with alternative noetherian Banach algebras. Combining techniques from [3] with techniques and the result from [6], we prove that every alternative noetherian Banach algebra is finite-dimensional.
