Spectral estimates of vibration frequencies of anisotropic beams

Luca Sabatini (2023)

Applications of Mathematics

Similarity:

The use of one theorem of spectral analysis proved by Bordoni on a model of linear anisotropic beam proposed by the author allows the determination of the variation range of vibration frequencies of a beam in two typical restraint conditions. The proposed method is very general and allows its use on a very wide set of problems of engineering practice and mathematical physics.

Interval Oscillation for Second Order Nonlinear Differential Equations with a Damping Term

Hassan, Taher S. (2008)

Serdica Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 34C10, 34C15. It is the purpose of this paper to give oscillation criteria for the second order nonlinear differential equation with a damping term (a(t) y′(t))′ + p(t)y′(t) + q(t) |y(t)| α−1 y(t) = 0, t ≥ t0, where α ≥ 1, a ∈ C1([t0,∞);(0,∞)) and p,q ∈ C([t0,∞);R). Our results here are different, generalize and improve some known results for oscillation of second order nonlinear differential equations that are different from most...

A sharp upper bound for the spectral radius of a nonnegative matrix and applications

Lihua You, Yujie Shu, Xiao-Dong Zhang (2016)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

We obtain a sharp upper bound for the spectral radius of a nonnegative matrix. This result is used to present upper bounds for the adjacency spectral radius, the Laplacian spectral radius, the signless Laplacian spectral radius, the distance spectral radius, the distance Laplacian spectral radius, the distance signless Laplacian spectral radius of an undirected graph or a digraph. These results are new or generalize some known results.

The dynamics of the drum mower blade

Bartoň, Stanislav

Similarity:

The drum mower blade is freely rotatable around the fastening pin. During the operation of the mower, the centrifugal force and the resistance of the mowing material act on it. The presented article studies the effect of these forces on the behavior of the blade, in particular its oscillation around the steady state, depending on the properties of the cut material.

Oscillation conditions for first-order nonlinear advanced differential equations

Özkan Öcalan, Nurten Kiliç (2023)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Similarity:

Our purpose is to analyze a first order nonlinear differential equation with advanced arguments. Then, some sufficient conditions for the oscillatory solutions of this equation are presented. Our results essentially improve two conditions in the paper “Oscillation tests for nonlinear differential equations with several nonmonotone advanced arguments” by N. Kilıç, Ö. Öcalan and U. M. Özkan. Also we give an example to illustrate our results.

Spectral well-behaved *-representations

S. J. Bhatt, M. Fragoulopoulou, A. Inoue (2005)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

In this brief account we present the way of obtaining unbounded *-representations in terms of the so-called "unbounded" C*-seminorms. Among such *-representations we pick up a special class with "good behaviour" and characterize them through some properties of the Pták function.

Algebraic spectral gaps

Amaury Mouchet (2012)

ESAIM: Proceedings

Similarity:

For the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation, some real intervals with no eigenvalues (the spectral gaps) may be obtained rather systematically with a method proposed by H. Giacomini and A. Mouchet in 2007. The present article provides some alternative formulation of this method, suggests some possible generalizations and extensively discusses the higher-dimensional case.
