We consider a strongly nonlinear monotone elliptic problem in generalized Orlicz-Musielak spaces. We assume neither a Δ2 nor ∇2-condition for an inhomogeneous and anisotropic N-function but assume it to be log-Hölder continuous with respect to x. We show the existence of weak solutions to the zero Dirichlet boundary value problem. Within the proof the L ∞-truncation method is coupled with a special version of the Minty-Browder trick for non-reflexive and non-separable Banach spaces. ...

Convergence of a Lagrange-Galerkin method for a fluid-rigid body system in ALE formulation

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis

Similarity:

We propose a numerical scheme to compute the motion of a two-dimensional rigid body in a viscous fluid. Our method combines the method of characteristics with a finite element approximation to solve an ALE formulation of the problem. We derive error estimates implying the convergence of the scheme.

In this paper we prove existence results for some nonlinear degenerate elliptic equations with data in the space of bounded Radon measures and we improve the results already obtained in Cirmi G.R., , Ricerche Mat. (1993), no. 2, 315–329.
