We introduce small viscosity solutions of hyperbolic systems with discontinuous coefficients accross the fixed noncharacteristic hypersurface { x d = 0 } . Under a geometric stability assumption, our first result is obtained, in the multi-D framework, for piecewise smooth coefficients.
