We give a short account of some time-frequency methods which are relevant in the context of gravity waves detection. We focus on the case of wavelet analysis which we believe is particularly appropriate. We show how wavelet transforms can lead to efficient algorithms for detection and parameter estimation of binary coalescence signals. In addition, we give in an appendix some of the ingredients needed for the construction of discrete wavelet decompositions and corresponding fast algorithms. ...

Content-Based Image Retrieval for Computer Tomography Images Using Wavelet Descriptors

Petrov, Miroslav (2013)

Serdica Journal of Computing

Similarity:

An approach to building a CBIR-system for searching computer tomography images using the methods of wavelet-analysis is presented in this work. The index vectors are constructed on the basis of the local features of the image and on their positions. The purpose of the proposed system is to extract visually similar data from the individual personal records and from analogous analysis of other patients.

Application of Wavelet Decomposition to Document Line Segmentation

Laskov, Lasko (2012)

Serdica Journal of Computing

ACM Computing Classification System (1998): I.7, I.7.5. In this paper an approach to document line segmentation is presented. The algorithm is based on a wavelet transform of the horizontal projective profile of the document image. The projective profile is examined as a one-dimensional discrete signal which is decomposed using the pyramidal wavelet algorithm up to a precise scale, where local minima and maxima are discovered. These local extrema, projected into the input...
