Free associative algebras, noncommutative Gröbner bases, and universal associative envelopes for nonassociative structures

Murray R. Bremner (2014)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

First, we provide an introduction to the theory and algorithms for noncommutative Gröbner bases for ideals in free associative algebras. Second, we explain how to construct universal associative envelopes for nonassociative structures defined by multilinear operations. Third, we extend the work of Elgendy (2012) for nonassociative structures on the 2-dimensional simple associative triple system to the 4- and 6-dimensional systems.

Generalized polar varieties and an efficient real elimination

Bernd Bank, Marc Giusti, Joos Heintz, Luis M. Pardo (2004)

Kybernetika

Let W be a closed algebraic subvariety of the n -dimensional projective space over the complex or real numbers and suppose that W is non-empty and equidimensional. In this paper we generalize the classic notion of polar variety of W associated with a given linear subvariety of the ambient space of W . As particular instances of this new notion of generalized polar variety we reobtain the classic ones and two new types of polar varieties, called dual and (in case that W is affine) conic. We show that...

Gröbner δ-bases and Gröbner bases for differential operators

Francisco J. Castro-Jiménez, M. Angeles Moreno-Frías (2002)

Banach Center Publications

This paper deals with the notion of Gröbner δ-base for some rings of linear differential operators by adapting the works of W. Trinks, A. Assi, M. Insa and F. Pauer. We compare this notion with the one of Gröbner base for such rings. As an application we give some results on finiteness and on flatness of finitely generated left modules over these rings.

Identifiability and estimation of pharmacokinetic parameters for the ligands of the macrophage mannose receptor

Nathalie Verdiere, Lilianne Denis-Vidal, Ghislaine Joly-Blanchard, Dominique Domurado (2005)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

The aim of this paper is numerical estimation of pharmacokinetic parameters of the ligands of the macrophage mannose receptor, without knowing it a priori the values of these parameters. However, it first requires a model identifiability analysis, which is done by applying an algorithm implemented in a symbolic computation language. It is shown that this step can lead to a direct numerical estimation algorithm. In this way, a first estimate is computed from noisy simulated observations without it...

Introduction to the Maple Power Tool Intpakx

Krämer, Walter (2007)

Serdica Journal of Computing

The paper has been presented at the 12th International Conference on Applications of Computer Algebra, Varna, Bulgaria, June, 2006The Maple Power Tool intpakX [24] de nes Maple types for real intervals and complex disc intervals. On the level of basic operations, intpakX includes the four basic arithmetic operators, including extended interval division as an extra function. Furthermore, there are power, square, square root, logarithm and exponential functions, a set of standard functions, union,...
