Arakelov invariants of arithmetic surfaces are well known for genus 1 and 2 ([4], [2]). In this note, we study the modular height and the Arakelov self-intersection for a family of curves of genus 3 with many automorphisms:
Arakelov calculus involves both analytic and arithmetic computations. We express the periods of the curve in terms of elliptic integrals. The substitutions used in these integrals provide a splitting of the jacobian of as a product of three elliptic...
We will show the utility of the classical Jacobi Thetanullwerte for the description of certain period lattices of elliptic curves, providing equations with good arithmetical properties. These equations will be the starting point for the construction of families of elliptic curves with everywhere good reduction.

We propose a solution to the hyperelliptic Schottky problem, based on the use of Jacobian Nullwerte and symmetric models for hyperelliptic curves. Both ingredients are interesting on its own, since the first provide period matrices which can be geometrically described, and the second have remarkable arithmetic properties.
Shimura curves associated to rational nonsplit quaternion algebras are coarse moduli spaces for principally polarized abelian surfaces endowed with quaternionic multiplication. These objects are also known as . We present a method for computing equations for genus 2 curves whose Jacobian is a fake elliptic curve with complex multiplication. The method is based on the explicit knowledge of the normalized period matrices and on the use of theta functions with characteristics. As in the case of CM-points...
We present an algorithm for computing discriminants and prime ideal decomposition in number fields. The algorithm is a refinement of a -adic factorization method based on Newton polygons of higher order. The running-time and memory requirements of the algorithm appear to be very good.
