L. Olivier proved in 1827 the classical result about the speed of convergence to zero of the terms of a convergent series with positive and decreasing terms. We prove that this result remains true if we omit the monotonicity of the terms of the series when the limit operation is replaced by the statistical limit, or some generalizations of this concept.
In this note we present and comment three equivalent definitions of the so called or density of a set of positive integers.
In this paper we use the notion of statistical convergence of infinite series naturally introduced as the statistical convergence of the sequence of the partial sums of the series. We will discuss some questions related to the convergence of subseries of a given series.
In this paper we investigate the relationship between the statistical (or generally -convergence) of a series and the usual convergence of its subseries. We also give a counterexample which shows that Theorem 1 of the paper by B. C. Tripathy “On statistically convergent series”, Punjab. Univ. J. Math. 32 (1999), 1–8, is not correct.
