Representation theorem for convex effect algebras

Stanley P. Gudder, Sylvia Pulmannová (1998)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Similarity:

Effect algebras have important applications in the foundations of quantum mechanics and in fuzzy probability theory. An effect algebra that possesses a convex structure is called a convex effect algebra. Our main result shows that any convex effect algebra admits a representation as a generating initial interval of an ordered linear space. This result is analogous to a classical representation theorem for convex structures due to M.H. Stone.

p-Envelopes of non-locally convex F-spaces

C. M. Eoff (1992)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

Similarity:

The p-envelope of an F-space is the p-convex analogue of the Fréchet envelope. We show that if an F-space is locally bounded (i.e., a quasi-Banach space) with separating dual, then the p-envelope coincides with the Banach envelope only if the space is already locally convex. By contrast, we give examples of F-spaces with are not locally bounded nor locally convex for which the p-envelope and the Fréchet envelope are the same.

P-adic Spaces of Continuous Functions I

Athanasios Katsaras (2008)

Annales mathématiques Blaise Pascal

Similarity:

Properties of the so called θ o -complete topological spaces are investigated. Also, necessary and sufficient conditions are given so that the space C ( X , E ) of all continuous functions, from a zero-dimensional topological space X to a non-Archimedean locally convex space E , equipped with the topology of uniform convergence on the compact subsets of X to be polarly barrelled or polarly quasi-barrelled.

Necessary and sufficient conditions for generalized convexity

Janusz Krzyszkowski (1995)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

Similarity:

We give some necessary and sufficient conditions for an n-1 times differentiable function to be a generalized convex function with respect to an unrestricted n-parameter family.
