The hyperspace of finite subsets of a stratifiable space

Robert Cauty, Bao-Lin Guo, Katsuro Sakai (1995)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

It is shown that the hyperspace of non-empty finite subsets of a space X is an ANR (an AR) for stratifiable spaces if and only if X is a 2-hyper-locally-connected (and connected) stratifiable space.

On spirals and fixed point property

Roman Mańka (1994)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

We study the famous examples of G. S. Young [7] and R. H. Bing [2]. We generalize and simplify a little their constructions. First we introduce Young spirals which play a basic role in all considerations. We give a construction of a Young spiral which does not have the fixed point property (see Section 5) . Then, using Young spirals, we define two classes of uniquely arcwise connected curves, called Young spaces and Bing spaces. These classes are analogous to the examples mentioned above....

Zeros of Dirichlet L-series on the critical line

Peter J. Bauer (2000)

Acta Arithmetica

Similarity:

Introduction. In 1974, N. Levinson showed that at least 1/3 of the zeros of the Riemann ζ-function are on the critical line ([19]). Today it is known (Conrey, [6]) that at least 40.77% of the zeros of ζ(s) are on the critical line and at least 40.1% are on the critical line and are simple. In [16] and [17], Hilano showed that Levinson's original result is also valid for Dirichlet L-series. This paper is a shortened version of parts of the dissertation [3], the full...

Connectivity of diagonal products of Baire one functions

Aleksander Maliszewski (1994)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

We characterize those Baire one functions f for which the diagonal product x → (f(x), g(x)) has a connected graph whenever g is approximately continuous or is a derivative.
