A new proof of a conjecture of Yoccoz

Xavier Buff, Arnaud Chéritat (2011)

Annales de l’institut Fourier

We give a new proof of the following conjecture of Yoccoz: ( C ) ( θ ) log rad Δ ( Q θ ) - Y ( θ ) + C , where Q θ ( z ) = e 2 π i θ z + z 2 , Δ ( Q θ ) is its Siegel disk if Q θ is linearizable (or otherwise), rad Δ ( Q θ ) is the conformal radius of the Siegel disk of Q θ (or 0 if there is none) and Y ( θ ) is Yoccoz’s Brjuno function. In a former article we obtained a first proof based on the control of parabolic explosion. Here, we present a more elementary proof based on Yoccoz’s initial methods. We then extend this result to some...

A Hilbert Lemniscate Theorem in 2

For a regular, compact, polynomially convex circled set K in C 2 , we construct a sequence of pairs { P n , Q n } of homogeneous polynomials in two variables with deg P n = deg Q n = n such that the sets K n : = { ( z , w ) C 2 : | P n ( z , w ) | 1 , | Q n ( z , w ) | 1 } approximate K and if K is the closure of a strictly pseudoconvex domain the normalized counting measures associated to the finite set { P n = Q n = 1 } converge to the pluripotential-theoretic Monge-Ampère measure for K . The key ingredient is an approximation theorem for subharmonic functions of logarithmic growth...

Complete solutions of a family of cubic Thue equations

In this paper, we use Baker’s method, based on linear forms of logarithms, to solve a family of Thue equations associated with a family of number fields of degree 3. We obtain all solutions to the Thue equation Φ n ( x , y ) = x 3 + ( n 8 + 2 n 6 - 3 n 5 + 3 n 4 - 4 n 3 + 5 n 2 - 3 n + 3 ) x 2 y - ( n 3 - 2 ) n 2 x y 2 - y 3 = ± 1 , for n 0 .

Non-embeddability of general unipotent diffeomorphisms up to formal conjugacy

Javier Ribón (2009)

Annales de l’institut Fourier

Similarity:

The formal class of a germ of diffeomorphism ϕ is embeddable in a flow if ϕ is formally conjugated to the exponential of a germ of vector field. We prove that there are complex analytic unipotent germs of diffeomorphisms at n ( n > 1 ) whose formal class is non-embeddable. The examples are inside a family in which the non-embeddability is of geometrical type. The proof relies on the properties of some linear functional operators that we obtain through the study of polynomial families of diffeomorphisms...

On the mean values of an analytic function.

Let f(z), z = r e i θ , be analytic in the finite disc |z| < R. The growth properties of f(z) are studied using the mean values I δ ( r ) and the iterated mean values N δ , k ( r ) of f(z). A convexity result for the above mean values is obtained and their relative growth is studied using the order and type of f(z).
