The formulas for the m-th iterate ( m ∈ N ) of an arbitrary homographicfunction H are determined and the necessary and sufficient conditions for a solution ofthe equation y m + 1 = H ( y m ) , m ∈ N to be an infinite n-periodic sequence are given. We identify two ways of introducing negative numbers. In the first one, a totally ordered set (L, ≺ ) is presupposed, an element 0 in L is arbitrarily taken, and a number a is negative when a 0.
