Message doubling and error detection in the binary symmetrical channel

Kárná, Lucie, Klapka, Štěpán (2015)

Application of Mathematics 2015

The error correcting codes are a common tool to ensure safety in various safety-related systems. The usual technique, employed in the past, is to use two independent transmission systems and to send the safety relevant message two times. This article focuses on analysis of the detection properties of this strategy in the binary symmetrical channel (BSC) model. Besides, various modifications of the mentioned technique can be used. Their impact on the detection properties can be significant, positively...

Migration of the Mathematical Collection of Polish Virtual Library of Science to the YADDA Platform

Zamlynska, Katarzyna, Bolikowski, Lukasz, Rosiek, Tomasz (2008)

Towards Digital Mathematics Library. Birmingham, United Kingdom, July 27th, 2008

YADDA framework facilitates information exchange between digital document repositories. YaddaWeb, its web-based interface, provides browse and search functionalities. Content providers use DeskLight application to add or modify metadata and content. Internally, YADDA contains flexible repository aggregation mechanisms, multiple hierarchy support and full-text indexing capabilities. YADDA framework is an excellent solution for Open Access paradigm of content exchange. Migration of the Mathematical...

Modelling of multicomponent diffusive phase transformation in solids

Vala, Jiří (2008)

Programs and Algorithms of Numerical Mathematics

Physical analysis of phase transformation of materials consisting from several (both substitutional and interstitial) components, coming from the Onsager extremal thermodynamic principle, leads, from the mathematical point of view, to a system of partial differential equations of evolution type, including certain integral term, with substantial differences in particular phases ( α , γ ) and in moving interface of finite thickness ( β ), in whose center the ideal liquid material behaviour can be detected....

More on deformed oscillator algebras and extended umbral calculus

Kwaśniewski, A. K., Grądzka, E. (2003)

Proceedings of the 22nd Winter School "Geometry and Physics"

This paper deals with ϕ ( q ) calculus which is an extension of finite operator calculus due to Rota, and leading results of Rota’s calculus are easily ϕ -extendable. The particular case ϕ n ( q ) = [ n q 1 ] - 1 is known to be relevant for quantum group investigations. It is shown here that such ϕ ( q ) umbral calculus leads to infinitely many new ϕ -deformed quantum like oscillator algebra representations. The authors point to several references dealing with new applications of q umbral and ϕ ( q ) calculus in which new families of ϕ ( q ) extensions...
