Existence of -bounded solutions for nonhomogeneous Lyapunov matrix differential equations on .
Connections between uniform exponential expansiveness and complete admissibility of the pair are studied. A discrete version for a theorem due to Van Minh, Räbiger and Schnaubelt is presented. Equivalent characterizations of Perron type for uniform exponential expansiveness of evolution families in terms of complete admissibility are given.
We give characterizations for uniform exponential stability and uniform exponential instability of linear skew-product flows in terms of Banach sequence spaces and Banach function spaces, respectively. We present a unified approach for uniform exponential stability and uniform exponential instability of linear skew-product flows, extending some stability theorems due to Neerven, Datko, Zabczyk and Rolewicz.
We consider nonautonomous competitive Kolmogorov systems, which are generalizations of the classical Lotka-Volterra competition model. Applying Ahmad and Lazer's definitions of lower and upper averages of a function, we give an average condition which guarantees that all but one of the species are driven to extinction.
A two species non-autonomous competitive phytoplankton system with Beddington-DeAngelis functional response and the effect of toxic substances is proposed and studied in this paper. Sufficient conditions which guarantee the extinction of a species and global attractivity of the other one are obtained. The results obtained here generalize the main results of Li and Chen [Extinction in two dimensional nonautonomous Lotka-Volterra systems with the effect of toxic substances, Appl. Math. Comput. 182(2006)684-690]....
Motivated by potential applications to partial differential equations, we develop a theory of fine scales of decay rates for operator semigroups. The theory contains, unifies, and extends several notable results in the literature on decay of operator semigroups and yields a number of new ones. Its core is a new operator-theoretical method of deriving rates of decay combining ingredients from functional calculus and complex, real and harmonic analysis. It also leads to several results of independent...
A new class of fractional linear continuous-time linear systems described by state equations is introduced. The solution to the state equations is derived using the Laplace transform. Necessary and sufficient conditions are established for the internal and external positivity of fractional systems. Sufficient conditions are given for the reachability of fractional positive systems.
The exponential stability property of an evolutionary process is characterized in terms of the existence of some functionals on certain function spaces. Thus are generalized some well-known results obtained by Datko, Rolewicz, Littman and Van Neerven.
Suppose that the function in the differential equation (1) is decreasing on where . We give conditions on which ensure that (1) has a pair of solutions such that the -th derivative () of the function has the sign for sufficiently large and that the higher differences of a sequence related to the zeros of solutions of (1) are ultimately regular in sign.
This paper is concerned with the global asymptotic stability of the zero solution of the half-linear differential system where , (), and for or . The coefficients are not assumed to be positive. This system includes the linear differential system with being a matrix as a special case. Our results are new even in the linear case (). Our results also answer the question whether the zero solution of the linear system is asymptotically stable even when Coppel’s condition does not hold...
We study the structure of a differentiable autonomous system on the plane with non-positive divergence outside a bounded set. It is shown that under certain conditions such a system has a global attractor. The main result here can be seen as an improvement of the results of Olech and Meisters in [7,9] concerning the global asymptotic stability conjecture of Markus and Yamabe and the Jacobian Conjecture.
